Privacy Policy

Self-Determination Institute ("SDI," "we," "us") operates the SDP Enrollment Tracker (the "Service") to help participants and their support people navigate California's Self-Determination Program (SDP). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), and role (participant or support person).
- Enrollment progress: your intended start date, regional center, which SDP checklist steps you've completed, projected and actual dates, and any notes you enter.
- Documents you upload: files you choose to attach to a step (e.g. certificates, budget documents).
- Contact information: a phone number, only if you opt in to text reminders.
- Sharing relationships: if you invite a support person, we store their email and the access you've granted them.
How we use your information
We use your information only to operate the Service: tracking your enrollment progress, calculating projected timelines, generating your Final Enrollment Report, and sending reminders through the channels you've enabled (email, text, and/or in-app notifications). We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Text message (SMS) reminders
If you provide a phone number and opt in to text reminders in your Reminder Preferences, we send messages about your own enrollment steps — for example, that a step is due soon or has become overdue. Message frequency depends on your preferences. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop text reminders at any time by replying STOP, or by removing your phone number and unchecking text reminders in your account settings. Opting in to text messages is never required to use the Service.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with anyone outside of what is strictly necessary to deliver the message itself.
Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We only use information as necessary to operate the Service itself:
- Service providers (our hosting provider, email delivery provider, and SMS delivery provider) act solely on our behalf to deliver the Service — never for their own marketing purposes, and never involving your mobile phone number or messaging consent data beyond what is needed to send you a message you opted into.
- A support person you've explicitly invited can view your progress, limited to view-only access. You can revoke this access at any time from Settings.
- Legal authorities, if required by law.
Data retention and security
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the information below.
Your choices
You can update or remove your phone number, change your reminder preferences, revoke a support person's access, or request account deletion at any time. Contact us using the information below for anything you can't do directly in the app.
